It’s been about 20 years since we Japanese started making Western clothes out of old Japanese Kimono (Japanese traditional clothes). The material for this kind of Western clothes implies that the cloth is antique (about from 80 to 100 years old), and has been originally used for the Kimono (clothes itself) or Obi (belt). It also has Japanese original, traditional patterns and textile. Furthermore, it is very unique in its beautiful, artistic colors, patterns, designs, and elegance that we can never see in modern Kimono material.
I use this wonderful antique material with Japanese traditional sense to make clothes. I make every effort to be reborn for Western clothes that match modern fashion trend out of them. The material ranges such as cotton originally used for banners and flags, high quality hemp, and silk. The basis of my dress making philosophy is to try something new, fashionable and tasteful. I also make ties with Ukiyoe picture design (a style of mostly woodblock pictures established in the Edo period [about 200 years ago] in Japan)
I hold exhibitions under the name of “ My Wardrobe” that means a general term of my own history, dream and design at galleries and a department store such as “Nagoya Mitsukoshi” and sell my dresses three or four times a year. Thankfully, I receive a favorable review each time.
It would be my great pressure that you will enjoy the wonderfulness of Japanese traditional culture and Western clothes out of Japanese antique fabric through my work.
