I majored in pharmacy. During my school days, glasswork was in the college program. And while working at a pharmaceutical company as a pharmacist member of Research and Development department, I needed to do some glasswork in order to experiment in science. That’s why I became interested in glass and glasswork.
I started blowing glass in October 2002. At that time, I contemplated what I could do with glass. I came across as an idea of putting a design of dragonfly. Dragonfly reminds me of nostalgia of my childhood. I tried putting dragonfly on the surface of glass as a design. After challenging the new technique for a while, it worked well. I haven’t seen that kind of glass before. I guess that the design is my own original. That’s what I am proud of. Now I make glassware with dragonfly design in three different colors, cobalt blue, red and gold.
I make wide range of glassware from glasses, mugs, pitchers, flower vases, to paperweights with my original dragonfly design. I hold an exhibition under the name of “ART GLASS TOMBOW”.
